Coconut Grove is a popular choice among backpackers given the highly economical packages it offers. Its psychedelic-painted huts have the basic provisions of a double bed, a mosquito net and a fan. The better ones have concrete flooring and attached bathrooms, but the interiors remain simple. The best picks are two bigger and newer huts (also pricier) closest to the beach offering glimpses of the beautiful sea. These are more spacious with ample furniture and an attached bathroom. All huts have balconies, some have hammocks, left behind by previous guests. Coconut Grove offers much in terms of freedom to its guests- their restaurant serves the typical Indian fare with some international dishes but they also allow you to prepare your own meals. Guests can pitch a tent for a small fee in the open gardens. They organise fishing, snorkelling and boating trips and arrange scuba diving courses and fun dives with one of the dive centres. The camping spot, with its hammocks, definitely helps during peak season in case all the huts are booked or if you are on a very tight budget.
